A Brief Overview The Medical Director for the walk-in Crisis Response Center(CRC) and Crisis Stabilization Unit(CSU) on the Cedar Avenue campus of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, will provide medical leadership and oversight for clinical/administrative operations. In collaboration with other administrative and clinical leaders, the medical director will lead the team of direct care providers in the CRC and will model excellent care for the clinical team. The role will require direct clinical care in the emergency setting in addition to time allocated for administrative responsibilities. The Medical Director for the CRC will join the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at CHOP, in the Division of Integrated Psychology and Psychiatry, and will work collaboratively with other care teams including Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Nursing, and The Department of Social Work. Administrative time will be allocated for the medical director's leadership duties.The Medical Director in partnership with key stakeholders, shall have shared responsibility for the following: Clinical Administration of the CRC Training and oversight of the quality of clinician and trainee services. Ensures Quality and Safety in alignment with Division, Department, and enterprise goals and initiatives. Oversight of clinical operations and ongoing process improvement for behavioral health services within and related to Crisis Psychiatry Services including appropriate coverage of service lines including developing these services in new clinical venues such as Cedar Walk-in Crisis Develops relevant policy and drives accountability for organizational policies supporting efficient operations of Crisis Psychiatry Services, including new programs and service delivery models and strategic development. Collaborates with relevant enterprise clinical and administrative leadership to align services and priorities and ensure effective integration including participation in relevant meetings and committees. Communicate regularly with relevant divisional and departmental leaders to develop and implement the DCAPBS and Integrated Division strategic priorities. Ensures collaboration with all pertinent CHOP departments maintaining working relationships with key stakeholders using the RACI framework. Performance Supports the development of the strategy for data collection for strategic planning and quality improvement processes for Crisis Psychiatry Services. Supports the development of the strategy for performance metrics (dashboards, key indicators, etc.) for providers in Crisis Psychiatry Services. Supports development and execution of ongoing quality improvement projects for Crisis Psychiatry Services with appropriate stakeholders across the enterprise. Education Supports training programs and promotes this asset in mission development. In coordination with DCAPBS training directors and program leaders, support a quality training environment for existing and new training programs across disciplines, and programs at all levels. Research Supports the Division Leadership and Section Chiefs in fomenting an environment that supports the execution of research strategy. Finances Works with Departmental and Division Leadership to optimize unit finances. Optimizes expense control. Optimizes coding and billing for clinical activity. Human Resources Effectively motivates and recruits clinical staff within the unit and resolves conflict within the leadership group. Education Qualifications Doctorate Medical or Osteopathic Medicine Required Experience Qualifications At least three (3) years of clinical pediatric psychiatry experience within an academic healthcare institution or other large healthcare institution. Required Completed Residency in General Psychiatry and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Required At least one (1) year of post-graduate clinical experience in settings that include but are not limited to emergency/crisis psychiatry services, inpatient psychiatric care, and/or consult and liaison psychiatry within a general pediatrics hospital.
