New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Professor Open Rank position in the Music Technology program to begin on September 1, 2024. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Music and Performing Arts Profession. This is a one-year, non-tenure track appointment that is renewable for an additional two years, depending upon department need and satisfactory performance. Position Description: We are seeking a dynamic and innovative colleague to join our Music Technology program. The field of specialization within Music Technology for this position is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates who could teach existing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in one or more of the following areas: electronic music, music composition, production and engineering, machine learning, digital signal processing, new interfaces for musical expression, hardware and software design and immersive audio (including creative applications of live performance, game audio, and AR/XR/VR environments). Responsibilities: Expected teaching load is up to six undergraduate or graduate courses per year (3 in fall and 3 in spring). Other duties include undergraduate capstone project supervision, master's thesis supervision, developing and maintaining professional bridges to the music technology industry, student recruitment, and program administration. Participation in faculty meetings, committees, and other service appropriate to a university faculty member is also required. Qualifications: A terminal degree in music technology, performance, composition, computer science, engineering, digital media arts or a closely related field is required. ABD applicants will be considered as long as the degree is completed prior to the start date of the position. A successful applicant will demonstrate commitment to excellence as exemplified by publications, performances, installations, compositions, and/or hardware/software design. Experience in teaching and mentoring of students is desirable.
