After School/Classroom Support Teacher for School Year 24-25 Brooklyn Heights Montessori School (BHMS) is currently seeking part-time teachers for the following roles for academic year 24-25: Afterschool Teacher Classroom Support Teacher/Substitute Afterschool Teacher & Classroom Support/Substitute The Afterschool Teacher will work specifically for the MAP program, aka Montessori Afternoon Plus. Hours are 3pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. They will monitor and care for students between preschool and grade 6. They will prepare materials and activities that are interesting and age-appropriate; provide tutoring for homework; mediate any conflicts between students; report any concerns to the Coordinator; and provide a safe and fun environment for the children. Maximum hours per week is 15 hours and the compensation is $23/h. The Classroom Support Teacher/Substitute will provide assistance in Montessori classrooms and/or art programs, lunch and recess coverage and other support needed around the school. Candidates must have experience working with groups of children and be able to implement lesson plans when classroom teachers are out. The classroom support/Substitute work hours are between 8:30am-3pm. Maximum hours per week is 27 hours per week and the compensation is $23/h. The Afterschool Teacher & Classroom Support position is a combination of the two options above. Maximum hours per week is 27 hours per week and the compensation is $23/h. The candidate sought for this position would be someone interested in childhood (K-6) education; who have solid experience managing groups of children in an educational setting; and who can demonstrate authoritative pedagogy based on positive discipline.
