This position will be responsible for supporting and/or managing various sizes of labor and employment matters, as well as specific projects supporting those matters, which may include document management, technological applications, trial support, and editorial and research functions. The Paralegal is also responsible for those projects delegated to them by the Manager of Legal Practice Support and Attorneys.This position will reside in the Boston office with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule. Primary Functions and Responsibilities I. Document and Case Management Establish, organize and maintain case and client files Manage information manually and through the use of computerized databases With supervision, coordinate the gathering of information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence necessary to respond to discovery including analysis of client documents for relevance and privilege. With supervision, analyze, organize, synthesize and summarize documents and materials received from adverse Prepare subpoenas for depositions, hearings, production of documents, and trial appearance Prepare Freedom of Information Requests Assist with digesting and summarizing depositions and other legal documents II. Trial SupportPrepare trial/hearing/arbitration/mediation materialsOrganize evidence and prepare exhibitsLocate, track, and disseminate information/evidenceWith direction, coordinate all trial/hearing/arbitration/mediation logisticsCoordinate with Practice Technology and IT resources regarding equipment and presentation of evidence to be utilized at trialIII. Editorial Support and Research SupportWith supervision, assist with the compilation, drafting , proofreading, editing, and gathering of factual support for briefs and dispositive motionsDraft correspondence, reports, documents and other written materialWith direction, summarize and analyze factual and statisticalPerform editorial and research supportWith direction, Bluebook and cite check briefs and dispositive motionsWith supervision, conduct online legal and factual researchPerform cite-checking, shepardizing and legal research both manually and electronicallyIV. AdministrativeTimely completion of time entry and other administrative responsibilitiesAttend firm team/group meetings and continuing education programs/seminars Education and Experience Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; paralegal certificate preferred but not requiredA minimum of seven (7) years of experience including experience and understanding of FINRAAdhering to legal and ethical principles that guide paralegal conduct, including, but not limited to: the unauthorized practice of law; confidentiality and attorney-client privilege; conflicts of interestAptitude for general legal terminology, basic legal principles, and legal processesKnowledge of court rules, procedures and protocols as well as rules of evidence, including Federal rules governing electronic discoveryWritten and verbal communication skills in team atmosphereCustomer service and Interpersonal skillsProject management and organizational skills as well as problem solving skillsAbility to adapt to change and balance competing demandsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret business and professional publications, prepare business correspondence, proposals and reports, effectively present information to groups, and respond to question from peers, managers, clients and vendorsAbility to apply the Uniform System of CitationKnowledge of court rules, procedures and protocolsRules of evidence, including Federal rules governing electronic discovery Technical Skills Document Management such as iManageMS-Office (Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)Interwoven, Adobe Reader, FileMaker Pro, Full Authority, Acrobat Writer, Folio Views, Legal MacPacPractice Group: IPROView, Litigator's Notebook, LiveNote, Concordance, CaseMap, TimeMap, LiveNote, Summation Blaze, Sanction IIResearch Software: Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, West Check, LawbaseAccounting Software: CarpeDiemMorgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP is committed to equal employment opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with physical and/or mental disabilities.
