Knox County Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following position: Registered Nurse Location: Health Services School Year: 2024-2025 Job Summary: Assist in the planning and implementation of Health Services programs in Knox County Schools. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited Professional School of Nursing with a current in good standing Tennessee Registered Nurse License Minimum of 2 years of actual nursing experience Critical thinking skills Physical ability to endure extended periods of standing, walking, running, sitting, and stair climbing. Ability to lift/push/carry up to 40 pounds. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Professional appearance Dependable transportation to various sites Responsibilities/Job Duties: Report to Health Services Supervisor Work collaboratively with other departments, resources and other school nurses Assume primary responsibility for all medical procedures in the school setting including but not limited to: enteral feedings, catheterizations, diabetic monitoring, injections, and administration of medications (know the 5 rights of medication administration) Seek assistance if unfamiliar with any procedure Perform responsibilities according to the Nurse Practice Act and Knox County Schools Policy and Procedure Manual Observe and monitor students for adverse reactions, injuries, illness, or other conditions that may arise Consult with Physicians and other health care providers as needed Document pertinent medical information Ensure student medical needs are addressed via IHP, IEP, 504, Action Plan and/or Emergency Preparedness. Interpret Health data for school personnel and parents Monitor the school's compliance with State Health Regulations Teach delegated medical skills to non-nursing personnel and monitor performance Participate/obtain Continuing Nurse Education as required Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses when applicable Maintain confidentiality per HIPPA guidelines Such alternatives to the above qualifications/responsibilities as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment Perform other duties as assigned
