RN - Medsurg - Registry Float

General Medical and surgical units -see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses including chronic illnesses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, end stage renal disease. Manage GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, gastroparesis, inflammatory bowel diseases. Also manage infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, UTI, c-diff, etc. May also care for patients with neurological issues such as stroke, dementia, traumatic brain injuries. Also have patients with mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, etc. Our patients will undergo procedures such as colonoscopies, thora and paracentesis, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries (lap chole, incision and drainage, biopsies, amputation). Types of procedures required. General Medical Surgical nursing care. Skills and tasks required would be assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilization of the EHR, IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, management of heparin and insulin drips, IV therapy management. Requirements Minimum one year Med Surg hospital experience. Two years is preferred. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc) BLS, IN State or compact RN license. Medsurg RN's will float to areas in greatest need. Patient ratios are 1:5. BLS and IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20) Would only float to other medical units. We require supplemental staff to go through our Jump Start orientation, this includes 1 day of general hospital orientation, then approximately 5 days of nursing orientation, Epic classes are included.
