This role entails providing legal counsel and expertise in the area of employee benefits, with a focus on qualified retirement plans.Job Overview:Provide legal counsel on qualified retirement plans, including non-ERISA public retirement plans and church plans.Draft plan documents, summarize plan descriptions, and negotiate service provider contracts.Counsel plan sponsors and fiduciaries on compliance requirements and fiduciary best practices.Manage and maintain significant client relationships.Duties:Design and ensure compliance of qualified retirement plans with tax and fiduciary regulations.Review investment management agreements and advise on plan governance.Participate in IRS voluntary compliance programs.Provide legal support on governmental 457(b) plans and the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013.Requirements:8 years of experience in qualified retirement plans.Strong knowledge of ERISA, Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory frameworks.Admitted to practice law in California.Education:Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Certifications:Admission to the California State Bar.Skills:Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Strong client relationship management skills.Negotiation and drafting abilities.Familiarity with governmental 457(b) and non-ERISA public retirement plans is preferred.
