Position Summary: The Director of Music Ministries will plan, prepare and execute worship services ranging from contemporary to traditional, seasonal concerts, and lead professional music staff members and a variety of volunteer leaders. The Director of Music Ministries will encourage and cultivate the spiritual growth of singers and musicians, instilling an understanding of their musical abilities as ministry in service to God. The Director of Music will direct singers, ensembles, and musicians to provide excellent music bringing depth of meaning, passion, and vitality to worship services. Ministry Responsibilities: Work closely with the Pastor to develop services and choose music that supports and enhances the message of the day that is appropriate in both length and style for worship at NUMC and special season music during Advent and Lent.Actively seek or create opportunities for worship to positively impact our community through special services, events, and community engagement. Lead, train, and prepare music ministry volunteers of all ages to share musical gifts through a variety of music formats, including contemporary worship music, traditional worship music, children and youth choirs, congregational, guest soloists, and other musical experiences. Maintain regular rehearsals for choirs, soloists and instrumentalists and communicate weekly with music ministry members via email. Provide and lead music during the Sunday morning worship service and possibly provide music in other life events to include weddings and funerals with separate financial compensation for those events. Actively engage the congregation through music and singing. Provide all music titles, lyrics and necessary information by agreed upon schedule to the Administrative Assistant for media displays on Sunday morning. Maintain records and engage in reporting as required for CCLI.Will take 3 Sundays off a year for personal refreshment, and will also take 1 Sunday off a year for professional development through a conference/workshop. The director will arrange for a substitute to fulfill duties in his/her absence. Work with Pastor/Finance team to be accountable for managing and working within the Music Ministry budget. Other music duties as assigned by the Pastor. Qualifications and Skills: Have a commitment to:o God, Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit.o The United Methodist Church, its doctrine, discipline, philosophy, and polity.o The body of Jesus Christ, known as the Church, by being a member of that body.o Accepting people where they are, realizing their potential and enabling them to become more mature disciples of Jesus Christ.Have a competence in:o Ability to promote harmony in the workplace by maintain good working relationship and support staff decisions.o Enabling persons to understand and respond to their call and mission.o Providing excellence in all aspects of music that contribute to passionate vitality in worship.o Playing and utilizing various types of music; well versed in contemporary and traditional music.Have a character that reflects:o Honesty, integrity, and emotional maturity.o Love, care, and respect for others.o An openness to spiritual and emotional growth.o An attitude of servant leadership.Employment Information: All employees will be:· Subject to an employment screening provided and outlined by the Staff Parish Relations team.· This will include a personal information sheet, history of work experience and education, personal references, and background screening provided by the State of Missouri and Safe Gatherings Policy.· Provided with a copy of all existing employment policies and procedures.· Scheduled for an annual review.· Compensated based upon experience and expertise and subject to annual review to reflect job performance and the needs of the church. Time Commitment: This position is responsible for results rather than hours worked. The estimated average of 15 hours per week, including rehearsals, regular and special services (Lent, Advent, and Christmas), preparation time, participation in weekly meetings with the pastor, time to research appropriate music, leading the music ministry 48 Sundays per year.Inquiry and Applications sent to: XXXX@gmail.com, 417-667-XXXX.
