Overview In this position, you will use your JavaScript, Python, and Java expertise to develop visualization software to understand data when proximity and location matter. Your work will help developer communities reimagine the capabilities of location-aware software applications that enable real-world improvements in governments and organizations. You will be part of a team that influences lasting contributions for communities with the web and mobile applications you create. The Professional Services division is the consulting and implementation arm of Esri. We break ground in new markets, push the technology envelope and ultimately deliver transformational solutions to high profile clients worldwide. The Professional Services organization is comprised of nearly 1,000 talented business and technical professionals who strive every day to help our users be successful. Responsibilities Front-End Development with JavaScript: Develop new user-facing features using React.js and other front-end libraries and frameworks Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use Collaborate with the design team to translate UI/UX design wireframes into high-quality code Optimize components for maximum performance across different web browsers Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the highest level of quality Automation and Data Analysis with Python: A Python developer is responsible for writing server-side web application logic using Python frameworks, such as Django, Flask, or ArcGIS GeoProcessing Services They develop and maintain Python-based applications, ensuring their performance, responsiveness, and security Python developers collaborate with front-end developers, data scientists, and other team members to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic They may also be involved in database design, writing APIs, and implementing data storage solutions Web Service development with Java: Developing and maintaining RESTful APIs Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze business requirements Ensuring the performance, scalability, and security of web services Solve and articulate complex problems through application design, product development, and user experiences. Location does matter--you will make it easier for people to visualize their data with location in mind Develop software used by people who are not software developers, ensure the exceptional software you create influences them to be exceptional professionals in their respective fields Collaborate with other programmers and developers throughout the development process Leverage the knowledge of your peers to better understand business trends, customer communities, and technology adoption patterns Evolve your language skills in JavaScript and Python by staying current with complementary programming languages, development methodologies, user interface design techniques, and database tools Requirements 1+ years of JavaScript and Python experience 1+ years of professional work experience in a similar position supporting, or supporting similar responsibilities Proficiency with additional front end development technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Node.JS, and more An entrepreneurial awareness of how technology enables excellence within governments and organizations--you need to be interested in why we are developing software, not just how we develop software Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proven ability to present to both technical and non-technical audiences Understand the importance of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, RAD, RUP) and software design techniques (UML, entity relationship diagramming, use cases, data flow diagramming); know how they impact the quality of your design process, team collaboration, and work product Working knowledge of databases, such as MongoDB, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL Object oriented design skills Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or mathematics Recommended Qualifications Working knowledge of SQL, REST, and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Experience with one or more of the following technologies: HTML, REST, Node, ReactJS, AngularJS, JQuery SQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, RDBMS OpenGL or DirectX GIS Web services Experience with 2D and 3D data visualization Proven experience as a Front End Web Developer Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and React.js Solid understanding of responsive design principles Experience with version control systems (such as Git) Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment #LI-MN1 Total Rewards Esri's competitive total rewards strategy includes industry-leading health and welfare benefits: medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance for employees (and their families), 401(k) and profit-sharing programs, minimum accrual of 80 hours of vacation leave, twelve paid holidays throughout the calendar year, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Base salary is one component of our total rewards strategy. Compensation decisions and the base range for this role take into account many factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
