IBM Power 10 / iSeries (AS/400) COMPUTER OPERATOR (3rd Shift Weekend (Friday - Sunday)JOB DESCRIPTION:This is a FULL-TIME 3rd shift permanent position. This position is primarily a 3-day Friday - Sunday work week. However, flexibility to extend to a 4 day, when necessary, is required. Therefore, it's essential that this position be a priority. When extending the hours is necessary, advanced notice is given. The operator will interact with outside customers of varied managerial levels as well as the internal Customer Support, Infrastructure and Development departments. Our operations is a 24/7, 365 day a year environment, therefore the ideal candidate will be required to participate in alternating holiday coverage.JOB SCOPE: You will be a member of the ASP Computer Operations team who overall is responsible for the monitoring of many customer environments in a multi-LPAR environment. You will need to respond to various 'on demand' customer requests in a timely manner. Examples of these would be user profile administration (creation, password reset, deletion), system transmission verifications, printer set up and troubleshooting issues, as well as library handling and maintenance.You will perform system operations tasks such as device management, job monitoring, backup reconciliation, period-end processing, and the completion of various audit and compliance tasks as required. This position requires that the operator have strong operational experience, preferably in an IBM Power 10 / iSeries (AS/400) environment and will feel comfortable with various system functions such as, library saves and library restores, physical tape and VTL management. Also, being familiar with the IBM job scheduler and reading a job log is a plus. The ideal candidate will be reliable and responsive, acting with integrity and with a high degree of accuracy. Our customers' security and compliance with company procedures is of utmost importance in this role. QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: IBM Power 10 (also known as: iSeries, AS400) experience preferred but not required. IBM Mainframe experience or Operational experience a plus. Technical school or equivalent education preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required. The ability to prioritize and multi-task under time constraints is a must. Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve in a quick, calm, analytical and methodical manner. Ability to work independently and in a Team environment. Flexibility in shift scheduling is REQUIRED.
