Who You'll Work With: The Broker-Dealer Accounting/Regulatory Reporting team of Bernstein Institutional Services is in search of a manager, Broker Dealer Accounting and Reporting to join their newly formed U.S. Controller's team. The candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will be involved in the monthly and quarterly close of the Company's introducing broker-dealer. The position is primarily responsible for accounting, management and regulatory reporting, including the FOCUS filings. The position will partner with other members of the finance team as well as Tax, Legal and Compliance. In addition, key constituents will include, Information Technology, Operations, and our external audit team. The candidate will play an integral role working with the front-line business teams to ensure that they are aware of the Financial and Operational rules of a U.S. Broker-Dealer and ensure that the company is in continual compliance. What You'll Do: Review all accounting, including general ledger entries, related to our broker dealers. Provide analytics and commentary related to monthly, quarterly and annual results. Prepare audited financial statements and provide information for the Company's SEC reporting requirements. Prepare regulatory reports and calculations including the customer reserve (15c3-3) and net capital (15c3-1) computations, FOCUS Reports, and other filings. Monitor and project capital requirements. Monitor and project cash balances for treasury management purposes to aid in ensuring the firm has adequate cash for sustaining operations each day. Manage audits and communicate with industry regulators to ensure that the accounting and disclosures are proper and meet all relevant requirements. Stay abreast of all regulatory and accounting regulations. Liaise with various internal (i.e., trading, sales, legal and operations) and external constituents as needed. Review/evaluate existing processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Implement and maintain reporting procedures to comply with internal control requirements. Support the Company's governance processes which include providing board level reporting. Participate in or lead special projects. What We're Looking For: 5+ years of broker-dealer experience required. Bachelor's degree in accounting CPA preferred. Series 27 - FINOP (or must obtain certification within six months) Knowledge of SEC broker-dealer regulations required. Strong Rule 15c3-1 and 15c3-3 knowledge required. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures Strong management skills with ability to build organizations and develop people. Well-organized with the ability to prioritize the workload. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborative by nature Proficient in Excel and/or emerging tools. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability. Strong clients focus with the ability to respond timely. Manage communications with external auditors and industry regulators to ensure that the accounting and disclosures are proper and meet all relevant requirements. Be able to work in a global organization and oversee work produced in offshore locations. In accordance with applicable law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows: Base Salary Range: $115,000 to $130,000 Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors.
