Company Description LOCATION: Boulder, CO ideal/Remote Verb Biotics is a pre-revenue company built on Ginkgo Bioworks’ biotechnology platform with the goal of improving overall human health through probiotics (“biotic”) technology that provides consumers with an “I feel the effect” experience. At Verb, we target specific health and wellness conditions and develop “biotic” solutions that have a clear “mechanism-of-action.” We are building a passionate team of health and wellness experts and are seeking a Sales Manager to support the sales team as they begin to scale the business. Job Description The Sales Manager will thrive in our fast-paced, start-up business environment. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Sales Manager will develop and establish relationships across multiple positions and functions between Verb and the customer. This role effectively works with the Director of Sales to research, identify and analyze market segments, market opportunities, and market trends and develop plans to capitalize on market opportunities. This job’s primary role is developing and fostering the customer pipeline, converting qualified leads into revenue-generating accounts, and managing existing business over time. As Verb Biotics is a start-up company, the Sales Manager will wear many hats and is key in supporting the Director of Sales to nurture a positive company culture and achieve commercial success. Core Responsibilities • Deliver revenue and growth targets in accordance with annual sales budget • Act as the primary interface between customers and Verb Biotics • Carry out specific responsibilities in each step of the sales process, which include, but are not limited to: • Identify prospective customers in the dietary supplement, food, beverage, and companion animal industries; • Develop, document, and maintain sufficient customer sales pipeline; • Facilitate and execute contract and licensing negotiations with customers and ensuring adherence to established guidelines and company policies; • Establish relationships with individuals at all levels of the customers’ organization; • Present the features and benefits of Verb Biotic’s solutions; • Conduct in person and virtual sales meetings with customers and prospects including key stakeholders from both organizations; • Planning, forecasting and achieving the revenue targets for assigned accounts. • Develop short- and medium-term account plans for strategic customers with input from different functions such as marketing, operations, and R&D. • Complete appropriate reporting of all sales activities, within 5 business days in CRM database (Hubspot). • Execute go to market strategies established by marketing team and support the development of sales collateral • Provide feedback to leadership regarding market strategy, lead generation process, product pipeline, and account development/hurdles/risks • Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship, and direction of the business • Attend trade shows and industry events to generate new leads and gain market insights • Continuously improve comprehensive product knowledge, relevant industry familiarity, and sales techniques to answer the majority of questions posed during typical engagements with prospects and customers. • Work closely with R&D and customers for application development • Exhibit a professional demeanor and the ability to establish rapport with prospects, customers, and co-workers. • Adhere to company policies and guidelines as described in the Company Employee Handbook. • Travel up to 30% may be required Qualifications • 5-7 years of experience in sales and/or business development in the dietary supplement industry • Prior experience selling “Biotic” ingredients preferred • Bachelor’s degree required, preference for biology, chemistry, nutrition, or food science Demonstrated Skills • Sales acumen, proven success selling functional ingredients • Ability to understand and articulate scientific and market information • Excellent oral and written communication • Proficient with MS Office, CRM (HubSpot preferred), LinkedIn, online searches • Proficient negotiation skills • Proficient troubleshooting skills • Additional Information Verb Biotics Core Values • We make products that work and improve lives • We collaborate to make smart, resourceful decisions and get stuff done • We are fun… a bit geeky… and always respectful.
