For nearly 50 years, Central Semiconductor has been the go-to company for customers around the world who are looking for innovative and reliable discrete semiconductor solutions. Central manufactures leading-edge surface mount and bare die discrete semiconductors for the hottest high-tech products, and at the same time continues to manufacture older technology through-hole devices still needed by manufacturers of legacy products. We are seeking a dynamic leader to oversee all aspects of Quality in Central's internal operations and at external supply chain partner facilities, while maintaining a strategic focus on corporate goals and objectives. The Director of Quality coordinates with other leaders in the organization to maximize product quality and reliability, minimize costs, increase revenue, and achieve the highest level of service. This position is based in Hauppauge, Long Island, NY; however, a partial remote arrangement will be considered for qualified applicants not local to the LI metro area, and but who reside on the US East Coast. Alternatively, relocation assistance is also available for a qualified hire looking to fully relocate to the LI metro area. Position Responsibilities and Accountabilities (either directly or through reporting team members) Establish and oversee sampling plans and techniques that monitor all incoming product (surface mount, through-hole, and bare die) and product-related items, product in process, and finished product. Oversees product qualification process for new and changed products, including product qualification plans. Works closely with Engineering throughout the new product design and development process, to ensure new products are fully qualified and approved for release on schedule. Oversees material review process and related systems, ensuring effective system is in place to immediately quarantine suspect product and make disposition decisions. Oversees supplier corrective action requests; ensures quality issues are quickly identified and resolved. Proactively confers with suppliers to address concerns, deepen relationships, and develop quality improvement strategies. Overall responsibility for supplier audits and reports on trends related to quality and manufacturing, assembly, and test. Overall responsibility for Central's customer product quality analysis complaint/failure analysis process and reporting, including root cause identification, report content, and acceptable turnaround time. Communicates with customers to gain a complete understanding of quality complaints and other issues related to quality, and to drive customer satisfaction. Confers with Operations, Materials, and Engineering teams on product quality, reliability, and testing issues. Overall responsibility for Central's ISO9001:2015 certification status and transitioning Central's Quality Management System to new versions of the ISO9001 standard. Identifies need for additional certifications to expand market share. Education and/or Experience BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related degree from an accredited university; and 5-7 years related experience in semiconductor manufacturing or related industry; and High level understanding of various semiconductor process technologies; and 5 years management experience; and Experience working with external supply chain partners or external manufacturing; and Experience with internal and external ISO9001:2015 audit process; or An equivalent combination of experience and a higher level of technical education. Previous experience with Hi-Rel qualification requirements strongly preferred. Travel Up to 25% of the time, to include domestic, APAC, and other international travel. EOE.
