Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain optimum item selection and SKU count to achieve set category objectives. Gross margin growth across the category and ROI on total inventory and per SKU. Establish and maintain accurate price and margin integrity. Develop and foster strong vendor relations to ensure partnership is maximized. Support buyer partners to ensure aggressive pricing and shipping costs are achieved, best purchasing practices are executed and fill rate goals are met based on category plan. Effective communication and interaction of product updates, data and overall category go to market strategy to the sales team. Achievement of goals set by Vice President of Marketing. Source product within a specified category that will create value and excitement for our customers and impact company success by achieving profitable growth and sustaining our competitive advantage. Formulate category business plan and implement tactics for product assortment, pricing, promotion, planograms, advertising, and logistics to maximize sales and profitability. Become the category expert and consistently analyze and interpret selection to ensure products are performing well and earning their space and ROI. Review selection for non-performers and replacements. Interpret category sales, procurement, product trends as well as internal/external data to secure and develop the right products and lead category growth. Develop strong vendor partnerships to review category opportunities and negotiate to achieve best cost of goods in concert with aggressive product and marketing dollars to support marketing programs. Work closely with internal buyers to ensure best procurement practices are established and maintained on turn inventory and purchase orders. Interact with sales and marketing team on product and promotional needs, category interaction and customer requirements. Responsible for evaluating as well as reporting on the performance of products. Secure an in-depth knowledge of the market by visiting our retailers, competition, trade shows and studying industry data and news. Other duties as assigned by manager Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or experience in related field. Must have experience and a network within the wholesale/retail consumer product goods industry. Relevant product management experience in Category Management, Merchandising or buying preferably in the convenience, grocery, mass, drug, or food service trade. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the wholesale food industry including c-store, grocery and food service trade and inclusive of the relevant product assortment, retail players and wholesalers. Skilled in judgment and decision making ' considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Skilled in learning strategies ' selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things. Skilled in negotiation and win-win approach to vendor management. Knowledge of forecasting and purchasing Skilled in customer service contact skills and working with vendors Ability to stay on task, multi-task, prioritize tasks efficiently, and follow through with each item. Ability to be organized, communicate well, maintain interpersonal relationships, and calculate math Ability to learn new software applications as needed Benefits: Complete medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and accident insurances starting the first of the month following 60-days of employment. 401(k) after 6 months with 2% employer match.
