RSi is seeking Multiple Mechanical Engineering Technicians to join our team supporting our NASA customer on Redstone Arsenal. Position Description Summary The primary role will be to support NASA - Marshall Space Flight Center's Structural Strength Test Branch and contractor personnel in support of NASA research and development, configuration and maintenance of test article systems and testing infrastructure. Duties include, but are not limited to performing mechanical efforts of various sizes to include very large projects/tasks which may require travel to the organization's customer's location, assembling space flight test articles, performing routine maintenance, installation/integration of various types of steel structure and mechanical assemblies, welding operations and fabrications operations, heavy rigging and crane operations, installing load cells, hydraulic actuators, tubing, etc. The candidate will interface directly with MSFC customers, technicians, and other test team members. The candidate will receive direction from the Department Manager or Team Leads and must be able to work from written and verbal instructions. The candidate will perform other duties as required to fulfill the mission of the MSFC Structural Strength Testing Branch. Required Experience/Education: Requirements are varied based on the job level. Level 1 - 1 year directly related experience Level 2 - 2 years directly related experience Level 3 - 3 years directly related experience Level 4 - 4 years directly related experience Level 5 - 7 years directly related experience Level 6- 15 years directly related experience Experience should include a working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating. Systems (OS) for personal computers and MS Office products. Preferred Experience: (i.e.: Knowledge, skills, abilities, software, etc.) Background in machine tool operations, heavy lifting operations, mechanical fabrication/assembly disciplines, knowledge of welding operations Experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, bridge cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment Work Environment ( office, lab, test stand etc) : High Bay, Lab, Test Stands Physical Requirements (ability to lift X amount of weight, sit or stand for long periods of time etc.) Must be able to pass a physical examination for any required safety-related certifications. Must be able to lift 40lbs Must be able to work at heights. Other Essential Functions: Candidate must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures. Must be dependable and willing to work hours outside the normal schedule. Good communication (written and verbal) skills. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and workmanship Experience reading and understanding specification and detailed work instruction Must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements Licenses: Valid State Driver's License.
