Hands-on training Opportunities for advancement Position Description Performs many pre and post-analytical duties in assisting the Medical Technologists in the performance of their duties including phlebotomies, order entry, specimen collection and sample processing. The Laboratory Assistant also performs clerical functions, including giving results to providers, distribution of reports, charges, credits and supply ordering within the laboratory. Major Responsibilities Performs phlebotomies including venipunctures, infant heel sticks, finger sticks and therapeutic phlebotomies and completes proper documentation Processes specimens and results from reference lab Collects other specimens including: blood cultures, blood alcohol and urine drug screens Processes and documents specimens from local clinics for in-house testing and prepares specimens for courier Maintains the laboratory and the outpatient drawing area in a neat, clean and orderly manner Keeps lab glassware clean and restocked Restocks, receives and inventories laboratory blood supplies Performs computer entry of patient orders and demographics for outpatients and referral Distributes reports and gives verbal reports on completed tests Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent required Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy certification required; as a condition of employment, application for MA-Phlebotomist Certification must be submitted to DOH within 90 days of hire BLS Certification required Washington State AIDS Education curriculum required Must stay current in knowledge base, certifications and licenses indicated above, and meet Hospital-mandated education requirements Minimum of one year experience in phlebotomy preferred Schedule 1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week; Day Shift Application Instructions To apply for this position and future positions, please visit our careers website at https://jeffersonhealthcare.org/healthcare-careers/ This position will remain open until fiiled.
