YOUR LIFE AS A SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR In this public health position at our nonprofit, you get to help seniors, the unemployed, folks with disabilities, undocumented individuals, and other qualified peeps gain access to a variety of aid programs. You're on the front lines, reaching out and identifying potential clients based on their insurance status, income, enrollment in social assistance programs, and identification. Then you guide them through the entire process with your expert knowledge of all the health insurance programs out there - from Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) to supplementary plans and insurance affordability programs. You even make sure they're aware of other services available to them. Of course, confidentiality is key, so you carefully review and verify personal information while keeping clients in the loop on their application status. If there are any hiccups along the way, you use your amazing customer service skills to help resolve issues and answer any questions that come up. Not only do you monitor our hotline and email, but you also document program outcomes and build your expertise in public health insurance eligibility, application, and enrollment. At the end of the day, you can feel proud knowing you're making a real difference in the lives of those in our community who need it most! REQUIREMENTS FOR A SOCIAL SERVICES COORDINATOR Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field OR an associate's degree with several years of experience Certified at the advanced level on IRS Link and Learn Willingness to attend in-person TaxSlayer tax preparation software training provided by Single Stop Willingness to attend and successfully complete the training to be certified by the IRS Intermediate to advanced computer skills Ability to work from different locations (and in different boroughs) daily and carry over 7 lbs. of equipment from site to site Ability to adjust work schedule and hours on short notice Experience with and a commitment to working with low-income families and individuals Strong interest in health insurance access Bilingual in Spanish and English Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
