A DAY IN THE LIFE OF CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TESTING TECHNICIAN Working under the immediate supervision of a registered professional engineer, you work as a team member alongside site managers and engineers to perform the required inspection or sampling services. You actively collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing in order to ensure construction standards and specifications are being met. Whether at a commercial, industrial, or residential construction project, you take your role in quality assurance and testing seriously. Additional responsibilities in this vital quality assurance position include monitoring general contractor activities, onsite testing, and reporting of earthwork and soil construction, reinforcing steel, concrete placements, as well as asphalt testing. You will accurately prepare daily reports for submission to the project engineer. These reports not only include your test results summary, but detailed construction site observations as well. Being safety conscious is at the heart of all you do. ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN QUALIFICATIONS Relevant education and experience Schedule flexibility Can navigate smartphones and computers for communication and recording time worked Ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs and perform the physical requirements of the position Easily work with hand tools and testing apparatuses Able to pass a drug screening Have a valid driver's license and clean driving record Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather conditions ACI, NICET, and ICC Certifications are a plus!
