Internship Summary The Galveston Park Board Marketing Intern will become well-versed in the scope of the Park Board's Parks and the eco-system of our beaches, including park operations and asset management, recreation services, and the management of natural and cultural resources.The Marketing Intern will assist the Parks Coordinator in drafting a communications calendar, social media content, and website copy to share with all audiences the great programs, recreation and experiences at our Parks and beaches. Additionally, the intern will be on site for programs and educational activities to shoot photos and videos to add to our library.This position will have direct contact with Visit Galveston, the DMO for Galveston Island, as well as opportunity to work directly with community partners who provide educational content for Parks. Minimal Qualifications Detail oriented, highly organized, effective time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Effective oral and written skills Familiarity with social media and general marketing vocabulary will be helpful to promote programs. Friendly disposition is needed to work with partner agencies. This position will need to be able to work remotely and be able to work in person when needed. Must be able to tolerate outdoor conditions and conduct site visits to become familiar with the Parks location. Some classes and/or experience in Hospitality & Tourism, Parks & Recreation or Marketing & Communications is a plus Required current certifications, licenses, and trainings. High School Diploma or equivalent required Must hold a current and valid Class C Driver's License Work Schedule Varies - minimum 10 hours/week Semesters Summer I (May - June) Summer II (July - August) Summer 10 Week (May - August) Essential Tasks Connect with new and existing community partners. Develop communications calendar and digital library Produce one educational online only program Assist with website copy and social media postings Shadowing Expectations Environmental Coordinator - To learn about coastal conservation programs Visitor Information Center- To learn about destination experiences Social Media Team - To learn about DMO audience development This is a volunteer unpaid position.
