Description:
CITY OF NOVI (a highly desirable community of almost 67,000, located in Oakland County, SE Michigan) seeks highly qualified professional to provide direction and oversight of Older Adult Services; a division of the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. This position responds to inquiries and provides assistance relative to all operations, supervises the direction and implementation of a multitude of city wide older adult programs and social services, and serves as part of the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services Department Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, organization, supervision and day-to-day operation of a comprehensive older adult program both at the Novi Civic Center and the Meadowbrook Activity Center (senior center) working with a diverse group of employees and community partners. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Parks and Recreation Management, Gerontology or a related field, Master's degree in related field preferred. Three (3) to Five (5) years experience in programming and managing recreation programs and events and supervising staff; with professional certification desired. Requirements also include knowledge of the objectives and ideals of recreation as it applies to programs and activities for older adults, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, knowledge of a wide variety of senior activities, administrative experience with grants, budgets, and partnerships.
