Job Title : Pharmacy Technician Supervisor/Inpatient Department : Pharmacy Reports To : Inpatient Pharmacy Manager Job Summary : Pharmacy Technician Supervisor/Inpatient (PTSI) is responsible for the supervision of all inpatient pharmacy technicians. The PTSI ensures that all technicians are performing their duties safely and in accordance with all State and Federal laws. Moreover the PTSI is responsible for quality assurance for inpatient pharmacy technicians. Job Responsibilities include : - Ensures that inpatient technicians procure and distribute medications per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols. - Supervises the Replenishment of medications in automated dispensing units and emergency drug containers; rotates and manages stock before expiration date; generates reports, pick lists, and labels as required. - Assures that inpatient technicians are preparing IV preparations in accordance with policy and regulation. - Counsels inpatient pharmacy technicians on their performance and provide documentation of exemplary and unsatisfactory work performance at time of occurrence. - Evaluates performance of inpatient pharmacy technicians. - In conjunction with the pharmacy management, assists in the hiring and firing of inpatient pharmacy technicians. - Ensures that all assigned medication storage areas are inspected at least monthly and that medications that are outdated or unusable are identified and replaced. - Ensures the maintenance of logs, records, and other required documentation accurately. - Performs staff duties when necessary. - Ensures that the pharmacy is kept neat, clean, and well-organized. - Is flexible in assuming other appropriate responsibilities not noted above. Requirements :Education - High School diploma/equivalent.Experience - 2-3 years hospital pharmacy technician experience required. Trained in sterile compounding. Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required. Must be at least 18 years old.Licensure - New York State Pharmacy Technician license and registration. National certification (NHA/PTCB)Physical Requirements - Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs.), including boxes, equipment, unit-dose cassettes, and IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves, and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time (4-8 hours) is often necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.Schedule: Days/Evenings FlexWeekdays: 7am-3pm, or 7:30am-3:30pmRotational weekends: 7am-3pm, or 7:30am-3:30pmRotational weekends evenings: 2-10pm Cayuga Health System Commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Cayuga Health System commits to treat all people with dignity so that everyone who comes to us is safe, cared for, and respected.
