We seek long term partnerships with customers that value our approach. Qualification and skills- The Structural Engineer will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of Structural Engineering. The position requires application of sound engineering principles and practices to components and assemblies that require structural analysis and design. This individual will perform a variety of structural reviews and analysis related to primarily carbon, carbon alloy, and stainless-steel components and assemblies for non-building and industrial structures such as large inlet and exhaust steel stacks and their related structural support platforms for gas turbine and large stationary engine applications. Perform structural engineering analysis by completing proposals - quotes, design recommendations, product testing, site investigations, product failure analysis, and repair / retrofit designs. Develop and maintain tools for structural design, analysis and testing of systems, and train other engineers on the use of these tools. Define technical planning of products and their integration with other Dürr Universal systems. Provide technical input in developing new products and business relationships. Develop and maintain technology supply partners. Research, track and report on global regulations and technologies affecting Dürr Universal business. Stay abreast with current standards and codes by attending webinars and seminars, and other media Perform field-related work including field measurements, investigations, and inspections as needed. Assist in field failures to understand failure mechanism and root cause, provide reports and rework solutions. Support Application Engineering and Sales with proposals, customer and site visits as needed. Publish technical papers in journals, magazines, and similar media as appropriate and approved within the engineering department. Perform other duties as assigned. Education/Experience: S or M.S. in Civil / Structural, Engineering Mechanical or Engineering mechanics from accredited engineering schools (ABET). Must have successfully completed the following courses: structural analysis, steel structures, structural dynamics and/or earthquake engineering, and finite element analysis (FEA). Completed coursework in life cycle and fatigue analysis is beneficial. Minimum one (1) year experience in structural analysis and design. Hold P.E. license or as a significantly progressed towards certification including completion of FE exam. Demonstrated the ability to independently perform structural analysis using hand calculations, using Excel and Mathcad, and/or other similar engineering spreadsheets tools. Knowledge of Visual Basics programing skills to improve structural analysis tasks is beneficial. Working knowledge of general FEA structural analysis programs including RISA 3D and RISA Connection. Knowledge of other general structural analysis programs including STAAD and RAM Connection, SAP 2000, Abaqus (Simulia), Visual Analysis, and other similar FEA programs is beneficial.
