IT Infrastructure Specialist Job Overview: The IT Infrastructure Manager strategizes, designs and implements high performing/scalable and secure system and network architectures. This position serves as the cyber security specialist tasked with the design and implementation of defensive strategies against intrusion, consistent detection and repair of vulnerabilities and the documentation/conduction of counteractive protocols. Provides supervision to the Systems Administrator and Junior Systems Administrator positions while also serving as Level 3 support for CBW Infrastructure issue identification and resolution. (Level 2 = System Administrator; Level 1 = Junior Systems Administrator) Roles and Responsibilities: Designs, engineers and implements system and network architectures that are scalable, fault tolerant, high performing and secure. Provides leadership to the new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Identify, install and maintain solutions that ensure the protection of Company data. Maintain and grow back-up and recovery solutions that are tested at least quarterly for operational viability. Ensure that all required file system and data are successfully backed up/sent off site as prescribed. Through leadership, ensures timely and thorough desktop support to the IT customer base. Ensures the daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion/viability of back-ups. Create/communicate security procedures and protocols. Ensures frequent security monitoring. Employ tools that enable the timely/accurate logging of system access and administration. Frequently assess the defensive systems and provide reports based on assessment/test results. Maintain current knowledge of trends and procedures in infrastructure and security design/monitoring. Provide direction and guidance on security measures for new initiatives. Directs the repair and recovery from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Ensure that VP of IT is notified of any critical business impact in a timely manner. Maintains that OS patches and upgrades are performed on a regular basis, as well as the upgrade of administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary. Provide Level 3 support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues. Provide supervision to ensure that IT Helpdesk tickets are responded to in a timely manner. Maintain that IT Helpdesk tickets are accurately and thoroughly updated. Provides infrastrucuture/cyber security leadership to projects as assigned. Ensures the attainment of prescribed target dates. Maintain accurate inventory of system assets and provide reporting upon request. Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures. Ensure that system architecture diagrams/documentation are up-to-date and accurate. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning. Ensure ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required. Ensure that data center environmental and monitoring equipment is maintained in working order. Ensure up-to-date tracking of system licenses, pending renewals, out of life equipment, etc. and provide timely notice of required action/recommendation. Supervision of the System Administrator and Junior System Administrator roles. Provide leadership to the training/mentoring of these positions; responsibility for the development/communication/execution of departmental and individual goals; and the timely administration of performance evaluations. Demonstrate prowess in vendor management. Confidently negotiate agreements and work in accordance with the VP of IT to finalize infrastructure/cybersecurity agreements. Participates in IT on-call rotation. Off hours and weekend project work may be required. Knowledge and Skills: Two-year technical degree desired with a focus in computer science or engineering. Four to six years of system administration experience required. Strong working knowledge of Virtual architecture, networking technologies, SAN environments , switching and routing Systems Administration/System Engineer certification in Microsoft and or/VMWare desired. Two years supervisory experience preferably in a technical environment required. Experience working in both on-premise and cloud environments. Experience within a manufacturing or logistics environment desired. Communications and Interpersonal Contacts: Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues. May resolve problems within established practices. Adept at recognizing and executing escalation procedures for critical issues Partners with application development peers in IT to collaborate on innovation and problem solving. Generously offers technical expertise and guidance. Provide mentorship and guidance to subordinates.
