This position will manage the payroll team and processes, assist with data entry, record keeping, and reconciliation for the department, following all federal and state regulation. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront. Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures. Responsible for managing, mentoring, and reviewing the performance of the payroll team. Assist with incoming and out-going emails. Compile and analyze financial information to prepare reports. Assist Accounting/Finance team with Payroll information and data. Process and pay all state and federal tax payments. Complete Year-End Updates and Filings. Maintain high standards of confidentiality of all employee records and information. Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies related to Payroll. Ensure quality customer service is provided. Any, and all other duties assigned. COMPETENCIES Payroll and Human Resources Capacity Financial and Payroll Tax Capacity Communication Proficiency (Bilingual Spanish a plus) Flexibility Time Management Ethical Conduct Thoroughness Technical Capacity Effective Management SAFETY This is not considered a safety-sensitive position but is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations. All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required. Serves as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state, and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforces safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Employee may be exposed to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, virus or other air-borne pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines and dust/debris. POSITION TYPE/ EXPECTED HOURS This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. TRAVEL Minimal travel required with advanced notice. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Work Experience A high school diploma or GED is required. A minimum of five years of experience within a payroll department. A minimum of two years of management experience; managing two or more direct reports. Experience in high volume, multi-state environment (850+ employees per week). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required. Previous experience with accounting software (Vista by ViewPoint) preferred. Strong computer, written and verbal communication skills required. CPP certification a plus. Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS A valid driver's license and a clean motor-vehicle record preferred. Passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check is required.
