ACCOUNTING TEAM LEAD Option to work 1-2 days from home, after initial training period. Position is located at our 310 Leonard St NW Building. SUMMARY The Accounting Team Lead will supervise and assist a team of two employees on the completion of various accounting related tasks and functions. This position will learn and develop a full understanding of the Mercantile accounting functions and will serve as a background to other Team Leads within the group. JOB DUITIES As an Accounting Team Lead you will lead, develop and hire accounting staff members to their full potential. The Team Lead will also support team members by having a full understanding and ability to perform all of the duties and responsibilities of the team. When onboarding a new employee, you will create a training plan that will set up a new team member for success. You will also lead important Accounting processes such as: Reconciliations, journal entries, regulatory reporting, monitoring of the bank-out-of-balance, administration of the bank's cash settlement position, journal entry uploads, investment transactions, CDARS/ICS transactions, and assist in preparation of various financial reports, as well as provide supporting documentation for reporting requirements. Additionally, you will know and understand Mercantile' s Accounts Payable Payment Processing, assist with and complete the Call Report, prepare loan data set and upload for quarterly loan fair value and assist with the quarterly data pull and analysis of the MSRs (Mortgage Servicing Rights). The department is frequently asked for bank financial data. You will play an important part of the team by conducting research, and compiling data. Team work is what we do. Members of the Accounting team cover for each other and assist where needed. QUALIFICATIONS 5-8 years Accounting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting Must have a strong comprehension of financial statements Must be proficient in excel Experience in bank regulatory reporting is preferred Fixed asset experience preferred We believe embracing human diversity makes us a better bank.
