Since 1917, Globe Machine has been a manufacturer of industrial machines, systems, and plants for advanced composites, building products, and pulp & paper. Our Mechanical Design Drafter will support the design and drawing releases within our Engineering department. This individual will produce layouts and assembly models and drawings of Globe's equipment. This position serves as an integral role within a design team of engineers and designers in conceptualization of robust, varied, and cost-effective systems that function in real world environments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Design Utilize AutoCAD computer-aided design, including AutoCAD Inventor (3D) system and peripheral equipment to generate complex layouts of new and existing equipment and design concepts. Define technical conceptualization of mechanical equipment to meet engineering principles and company standards. Analyze product or equipment specifications and performance requirements determining mechanical designs. Make final sketch of proposed drawings ensuring dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another and relation of various parts to the whole structure are correct. Draft detailed working drawing of machinery and mechanical devises indicating dimensions and tolerances and other engineering data. Use computer assisted design/drafting software to create detail drawing or sketch for final design of mechanical equipment. Confer with Mechanical and Control Engineers to ensure accuracy of design specifications, proper assembly, and performance of mechanical equipment. Technical Support Research parts specifications with parts department and parts vendors ensuring compatibility with equipment design. Confer with engineering team to determine changes in design modifications and enter editing information into computer drawings for "as builds". Department Support Work closely with Mechanical Engineering Manager to make up design packages for transmittal to customer. Serve as liaison with shop, engineering, and other internal customers concerning drawings. Create and check drawing revisions as directed by change orders, engineering alterations and mark-ups. Research and retrieve design files relating to specific design projection from database library to be utilized by the engineering team. Consult and interface frequently with engineering colleagues as needed. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or equivalent years of work experience in a designing/drafting role. Working knowledge of 3D modeling software required. Inventor or SolidWorks software experience desired. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motion and control components required. Minimum of three years' experience in a manufacturing environment desired. Proven experience designing mechanical equipment required. Ability to successfully collaborate with engineers, vendors, and customers required. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, motion and control components required. Proven attention to detail with an emphasis on drawing specifications required. Proven track record of being self-motivated, working with minimal supervision, and leading and partnering with diverse team members required. Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines required. Conduct oneself with the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards.
