Quality Engineer

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Quality Leader, it is responsibility of the Quality Engineer to implement, maintain and evaluate the company's supplier quality control programs. Designs, installs, and evaluates quality assurance process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques; designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment; analyzes production and service limitations and standards; recommends revision of specifications when indicated; formulates or helps formulate quality policies and procedures. Conducts training on quality concepts and tools both internal and external to supply base. Interfaces with all other engineering components within the organization and with customers and suppliers on quality related issues. Will also assist in corrective/preventive action, auditing and continuous improvement activities of the company, both internally and external with suppliers. This position will require occasional travel to suppliers. Leadership Responsibilities: N/A Duties/Responsibilities: Maintain test result files, certificates of analysis, statistical data, product and other required documentation Provide support to purchasing relating to supplier audits and improvement related visits Drive continual improvement (Lean-Sigma) Maintain related records and files in up-to-date condition Implement and monitor quality policies & procedures Report quality data / results Program & run CMM and other inspection related equipment Train others as needed on quality topics Backup to the Quality Leader as needed Assist the Quality Leader in training employees on basic & advanced quality techniques Monitor supplier performance and follow up on corrective actions Evaluate Statistical data and make recommendations to leadership on ways to improve manufacturing and inspection processes Assist manufacturing supervisors in achieving quality results and capability of those processes under their control Identify trends in product, process or quality system non-conformances, which require corrective prevention action Assemble PPAP and other customer required documentation packages Participate in APQP Perform internal and supplier quality audits Other duties as assigned by company leadership Required Skills/Abilities: Results oriented professional with a track record of improving all relevant Quality KPI's/metrics Hands-on manufacturing support Six Sigma experienced with history of personal practical application Robust experience in metals precision machining and assembly environment Expertise in ISO 9001 Relevant Tier 1 or 2 Automotive experience and expertise Strong knowledge and expertise in Metrology & Gaging practices Strong written and verbal communication skills Expert level in MS Office, MiniTab and business communications software Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Education and Experience: Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline required Minimum 3 years of related experience required Tier 1 or 2 Automotive OEM experience required ASQ Certified Quality Technician / Engineer and/or Quality Auditor Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt CMM Programmer Physical demands: The characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
