ABOUT EASTERSEALS CENTRAL TEXAS Easterseals Central Texas began in 1937 as the Texas Society for Crippled Children. In 1949, a small building was dedicated as the Austin Cerebral Palsy Center serving a small population of Central Texas residents. Almost twenty years later, we became the Capital Area Rehabilitation Center, expanding our services, programs, and the persons served. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST As a Speech Pathologist in human services, you play a crucial role in using your speech therapy skills in alignment with our family-center model to help children achieve their goals. You develop and deliver a comprehensive routine-based service plan that assists families with identifying their routines, concerns, priorities, and needed resources. Using developmental assessments, you help families achieve their goals and continuously re-evaluate potential strategies and outcomes based on their needs. You also initiate and maintain contact with the child's physician to obtain necessary medical information. In addition, you update human resources on all needed documentation on a regular basis. You complete the necessary continuing education to maintain proper speech pathology certifications and licensures. Throughout working hours, you consistently communicate with our main office as well as assist other departments, team members, and agency managers with obtaining the goals and objectives of our nonprofit. You also help out with the hands-on training of skills, billing, and other competencies. As needed, you attend staff meetings and remain available for questions from other colleagues. You love having a job that uses your passion for speech pathology, which encourages you to put forth your best effort each day! QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SPEECH PATHOLOGIST Master's degree in speech-language pathology 2+ years of experience working with children, preferably children with special needs Reliable transportation and current auto insurance Covid-19 vaccination Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Can you effectively prioritize tasks while demonstrating good time management? Are you able to show compassion and empathy toward others? Can you handle confidential information with discretion? Are you highly organized and attentive to detail?
