Director of Equity Initiatives Job Description Location : Detroit, MI (this is not a remote position; SCP employees work in our physical SCP office and often travel to various local locations for partner meetings, events, etc.) Employee Category : Full-time Employee Positions Hiring : 1 Start Date : Immediately Salary : $65,000-$100,000 (dependent on credentials and experience) Reports to: CEO Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance; 20 Days PTO; Monthly Self-Care Stipend; robust company holiday calendar; annual end-of-year shutdown; professional development budget. Elevator Pitch We are looking for a passionate leader with strong vision, relationship-building skills, exemplary organization and planning skills, as well as deep experience working with youth and community. This leader will work directly with our leadership cohorts and equity partnerships—leading work in communities, with professionals, youth, and community members. This leader will support the creation and facilitation of curriculum for our equity initiatives and foster spaces for youth and community that are strategic and impactful—both from a youth/community perspective, as well as our partners who we engage in this work with. We are looking for an exceptionally organized and visionary leader who can convene and collaborate across multiple organizations while also producing exemplary results. This person will have experience in facilitation and design, school and/or community events and partnerships, and planning and coordinating projects across multiple partner organizations. A day in the life of our Director of Equity Initiatives may look like this: Creating and facilitating a curriculum for a 9-month leadership cohort of mid-level professionals Having check-in conversations with equity initiatives alumni to plan a scope for alumni engagement events Facilitating quarterly or monthly convenings with cohorts of individuals or organizations Collaborating with partners to further equitable opportunities in our communities Building relationships and securing speakers and facilitators for workshops or sessions to support our participants and partners Identifying opportunities to collaborate with local and national organizations to further equity Education Bachelor’s Degree required Core Responsibilities Managing and supporting the implementation of all internal equity initiatives Collaborating with a team of facilitators, coaches, and consultants supporting the implementation of the equity initiatives curriculum Creating goals and milestones and managing timelines to meet objectives Managing engagement and fulfillment of contract/MOUs/expectations for equity initiative programming Leading partnerships with equity-based projects or events Experience Required At least five years of work experience with evidence of an exemplary proven track record of results At least one year of experience leading education and community initiatives with exemplary results—including designing, organizing, planning, and executing education and community initiatives At least one year of experience serving as the lead contact, organizer, and point-person for an education/community initiative, including crisis management, working directly with school administrators and/or partner organization senior leadership, and facilitating high-stakes meetings with stakeholders At least three years of experience working in a mission-driven organization committed to education, equity, and/or justice Experience managing partners across a project plan, as well as executing a project plan Proven track record of exemplary decision-making and judgment while leading education/community initiatives Additional Skillsets Compelling and influential communicator Strong relationship-builder Creative and innovative Strong organization and planning habits overall, including: Project plan design Curriculum and event design Partner and participant engagement and communication Ability to manage several priorities and partners at once while also working at a fast pace Exemplary decision-making and judgment Strong problem-solving skills, including, yet not limited to, ability to proactively identify crisis management concerns and mitigate during organizing and planning phases Ability to be flexible and jump into any role necessary Mindsets You believe it is necessary to pair strategy with community and cultural context to partner with communities.
