We are searching for a dynamic and committed Deputy Director of Programs to drive our mission forward and navigate the exciting challenges of a startup environment. About Us: The i-Center is a new entity that will deepen and expand the capacity, impact, and sustainability of California’s grassroots movements for racial justice and social transformation. The i-Center will support changemakers and organizations to catalyze innovations in movement strategy and power building, intergenerational leadership development, and our collective long-term sustainability and resiliency. Through a network of physical and virtual “centers,” the i-Center will also contribute a key piece of social movement infrastructure needed to fuel transformative structural change across California. This network will consist of new and existing centers serving hundreds of organizations and tens of thousands of grassroots leaders in California. We aspire to raise the necessary resources to fuel the mission, vision, and programs of the i-Center. The i-Center is focusing on three core strategies to deepen the power, coordination, and impact of the sector. In all three areas, we will create program and infrastructure supports that are additive and synergistic with existing movement efforts rather than duplicative. Movement Strategy and Innovation Intergenerational Leadership Development Healing Justice and Sustainable Work Culture What You’ll Be Doing: This is an exciting new role, and this position aims to advance the work in existing program strategies. This position is a remarkable opportunity to make a substantial impact by driving the direction of i-Center’s program strategy and managing key projects. The Deputy Director of Program will be crucial in managing program strategies, sharing learning, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure maximum impact. More specifically, the Deputy Director of Program will: Develop, design, and implement program strategies aligned with the i-Center's mission and vision. Coordinate and oversee the progress of all programs, ensuring they meet objectives on time and within budget. Establish and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders, including our leadership team and implementation committee. Navigate and adapt to the rapidly changing environment characteristic of a startup organization. Contribute to the development and execution of systems that increase the organization's effectiveness and impact. Develop and refine project milestones and goals, working with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure they are accurately reflected in the project plan. Document program learnings and ensure they align with our learning agenda. In addition, you will play a critical role in updating our learning agenda for the upcoming year. Play a crucial role in ensuring the long-term success of our programs by providing essential support for our fundraising initiatives. Oversee program staff, providing mentorship and support as needed. Who You Are: While no one person will embody all of the qualities described below, the ideal candidate will possess many of the following professional and personal abilities, attributes, and experiences: A strong alignment with the i-Center's mission and culture. Demonstrated expertise in organizing and program development, with at least five to seven years of experience in a similar role within a non-profit setting. Experience in designing and executing systems and processes within an organization. Proven management and leadership skills, with a knack for building and maintaining strong relationships. A flexible and resilient approach, with the ability to handle strong opinions/feedback well and adapt to the dynamic nature of a startup environment. Strong strategic and visionary thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently. Strong knowledge of grassroots organizations and the political landscape in California. Proven success in coaching and inspiring teams across age, gender, race, and socioeconomic experiences. Benefits: Employees receive 15 days of vacation, 4 personal days, and 12 sick days per year, and a generous paid family leave policy. We also provide the following at no cost to the employee: Medical insurance. Employees pay only 10% of the premium to add dependent(s). Dental and vision insurance, including dependent coverage.
