Description The Leidos Civil Group currently has an Aviation English Instructor opening. The Aviation English Instructor will be part of a dynamic team working to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) program in its Oklahoma City location. We help modernize infrastructure, systems, and security. Our customers take on the toughest challenges out there, and at times need a helping hand from specialists in their fields.Are you ready for your next career challenge?As a Leidos consulting employee the work is on a sporadic basis teaching an Aviation English class for the FAA. The classes are delivered virtually, 2-3 weeks long, and currently there are scheduled offerings through summer 2024. A consulting employee is paid by the hour for every hour worked with a minimum hour requirement of 180 hours a year.Primary Responsibilities:The Aviation English Instructor will provide support to the FAA Academy's International Division. Leidos provides non-native English language speakers with the ability to develop aviation language skills to comply with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements.Duties include interacting with international students, both flight or air traffic, to promote language acquisition and phraseology via classroom discussion and group exercises.Facilitate student learning in order for them to demonstrate mastery of the ICAO Language Proficiency RequirementsBasic Qualifications:Proficient in speaking, writing, and typing in the English language with the ability to understand, use, and instruct the vocabulary needed in the aviation industry.Classroom instructor experience teaching English to non-native speakers with a focus on ESL methodology, and ICAO proficiency testingCandidate must be able to obtain an SF-85P Public Trust clearance from the FAA customer.BS degree and 8 and 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 10 years of prior relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with ICAO Doc. 9835 and Aviation Language Proficiency requirementsExperience with FAA course design, and instructional techniquesExcellent customer service skills necessary to interact with internal, external, and international customers, as well as the ability to work in a cooperative environment.Previous FAA experience instructing international students and helping them improve English proficiency for aviation operationsPay Range:Pay Range -The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
