The Technical Trainer plays a vital role by ensuring that our System Operations team has the knowledge and skills required to maintain our promise to our customers and grid partners. * Develop and deliver training to strengthen System Operations individual and team performance while ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies.* Maintain Otter Tail Power Company’s NERC Continuing Education Provider designation and ensure personal and individual NERC Certification.* Serve as primary Drill Coordinator for annual Summer Readiness Drill and fall Power System Restoration Drill coordinated by Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). * Lead as secondary backup control center supervision and assist with restoration efforts during emergency events when requested.To be successful in this role, we’re looking for candidates who possess the following:* There’s a lot of innovation in our industry and we want positive, can-do people who are resilient through the challenges that sometimes come with change.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present training materials to both internal and external audiences. * Bachelor’s degree in education, physics, mathematics, engineering or related technical field, or combination of education, training, certifications, and experience required.* Ability to become and maintain certified as a NERC System Operator is required.* Knowledge of principles and procedures of interconnected electric system operations as outlined in the NERC standards.
