Risk Management Independent Assurance (RMIA) is a transformational effort focused on establishing the framework for and ensuring consistent implementation of monitoring and testing programs within Risk Management functions to ensure business lines follow applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and properly remediate any identified deficiencies. The RMIA Senior Officer works closely with the RMIA Lead to execute on the Consent Order remediation plan, which consists of various project milestones and deliverables. The role incumbent needs to have a strategic understanding of both risk policy and practice. They will need to be able to engage with multiple senior stakeholders, provide effective challenge to current practices, and effectively work across multiple teams and business lines to execute on the mandate. The position requires excellent communication skills in order to work and negotiate internally at senior levels and externally with Regulators, Auditors and Consultants. The incumbent will need program management skills and be able manage multiple priorities simultaneously. They will need to stay abreast of industry best practices to ensure the Risk Management Independent Assurance program is best-in class. Key Responsibilities: • Effective and timely delivery of Consent Order-related deliverables • Work across Risk functions (e.g., Credit Risk, Market Risk, Liquidity Risk, Model Risk, etc.) to orchestrate the implementation within each team • In accordance with Citi’s Policy requirements, take an instrumental role in authoring a Quality Assurance (QA) framework document that includes, but is not limited to scope, objectives, approach, organizational construct, roles/responsibilities, and metrics • Work with Risk function representatives to perform a gap assessment coverage in their current, QA programs if any • Work with the RMIA Lead, Risk Independent Assurance Heads, and the Technology team to develop a technology strategy for all Risk QA programs • Provide periodic updates to Senior Management and Regulators as needed Skills/Competencies: • Thought leadership and innovation – use innovation and entrepreneurial dexterity to develop an effective program that satisfies the issues at hand, but remains flexible and adaptable for future changes • Leadership and talent development – independently lead the project and key contacts to successfully deliver; ability to build out a highly effective team where people management and leadership as well as the ability to develop the talent pipeline is vital • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills – proven written and verbal communication is key given the various level of management and regulatory interaction required.
