Staff Accountant (Mid Level)

Description:
The Staff Accountant reports directly to the Controller. This person assists with the monthly close process. This role also supports in preparing MD&A, Financial Statements, and other presentations as needed. This position offers the opportunity to work with all areas of the business through a variety of responsibilities. This is an exempt position. Job Responsibilities : Assist in generation of financial statements and MD&A for review Assist in the monthly close process Maintain the fixed asset and depreciation schedules Post journal entries and review postings of junior staff Perform monthly estimates and accruals Prepares monthly reconciliations Assist in coordination with outside accountants for the timely filing and payment of all tax returns Assist in audit preparation Maintain accounting policies in compliance with GAAP and up-to-date written procedures for all assigned areas of responsibility Ad hoc analysis and reporting as required Support and/or lead projects across multiple functional areas Cross train and coverage as required in department Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Required Skills : Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and accounting software packages Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems, desire to take on advanced tasks Detail oriented, ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize tasks Strong communication skills with the ability to translate financial information to senior leadership Ability to understand business activities with a broader view than just the finance function Desire to learn about the industry and support the goals of the organization Education and Experience Required: BS in Accounting or Finance 2-3 years of accounting or finance experience Powered by JazzHR
