Ozarka College Seeks qualified applicants for a full time: Aviation – Chief Required Qualifications: A current U.S. FAA Commercial Pilot certificate with Airplane category, Single-Engine Land Class with an Instrument Airplane rating. A current U.S. FAA Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane category, Single-Engine Land with an Instrument rating (CFII); and a current U.S. FAA 2nd Class medical certificate or higher. Associate's Degree in Aviation, or a related field Commitment to aviation education Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills Ability and willingness to work effectively with college committees, campus organizations, and other educational institutions and to be involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities Ability to design goals and assess learning outcomes Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Aviation, or a related field Proven experience with, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of working, commuting, and other non-traditional community college students Experience with 14 CFR Part 141 flight school requirements Two or more years of experience as a CFII and MEI Meet the requirements for Assistant Chief Instructor of a Private Pilot Course per 14 CFR § 141.36, including: At least 500 hours as pilot in command; and Flight training experience, acquired as either a certificated flight instructor or an instructor in a military pilot flight training program, or a combination thereof, consisting of at least— a) One year and a total of 250 flight hours; or b) 500 flight hours. Flight Instructor (CFI) Minimum and Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in aviation or aviation related field with at least three (3) years of relevant aviation experience (corporate, air carrier, flight training, military aviation, etc.). All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution. Hold all licenses required to be designated as Chief Instructor in accordance with 14 CFR 141.35(a) through 14 CFR 141.35(c) (MEI and ATP – Preferred). Knowledge and understanding of FAR Part 141 and 61 requirements and flight school operations. Minimum of 250 hours instructing in multi-engine aircraft strongly preferred. Possess excellent organizational and decision-making skills. Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in daily duties. Ability to read and clearly interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures. Ability to deal with regulators, respond to requests in a timely fashion, and maintain all records required. Ability to work in a multi-faceted environment with airport personnel, students, faculty, staff, administrators, advisory board members, and community stakeholders. Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments. Knowledge and understanding of two-year college organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures (preferred). Position will be open until filled.
