The Director of Financial Aid provides executive leadership, directs and evaluates the activities of the office and staff, and engages in the procurement of aid funds from federal, state, and possibly private sources. In addition, this position provides a set of comprehensive financial aid services to students, oversees the Financial Aid Office's information systems, implements sound policies and procedures, and provides reports and/or services to appropriate third-party agencies, as well as, to the Health Science Center administration. Duties and Responsibilities: Develops and maintains business processes for the Financial Aid Office that are equitable, consistent, accurate, and timely. Maintains a working knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations as they relate to financial aid; monitors and disburses federal, state, and institutional aid. Interprets regulations and develops strategies for the implementation and communication of such regulations on this campus. Procures, when appropriate, financial aid funds from federal, state, and private sources. Submits institutional application through the Electronic Application for Program Participation (E-App) to receive "Eligibility and Certification Approval Report" (ECAR), to include all of the Title IV programs that the school is eligible and certified to participate in for US Department of Education federal financial aid programs and for SACS accreditation compliance. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and technological requirements in conjunction with Business and Finance and the Bursar's Offices, upon ECAR approval and Direct Loan Program approval, to automatically establish basic federal financial aid setup actions that are necessary for the institution to process Direct Loans via the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System. Provides input and counsel to the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Enrollment Management and the Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs on financial aid-related matters; coordinates the effort of the Financial Aid Office with the other offices in Enrollment Management and those offices around campus that are directly impacted by the Financial Aid Office. Oversees counseling program that advises students, prospective students, parents, and other interested parties interested in obtaining financial assistance, eligibility requirements, personal budgeting, financial planning and literacy, and debt management. Oversees the development, modification, and expansion of the Financial Aid Office's student information system; supervises application processing and awarding of aid and funds delivery; develops media and publications describing services, programs and processes. Ensures that applications for funds and reports of expenditures are timely. Develops, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in Education, Business Administration, Management or equivalent degree. (Master's Degree preferred) . (Transcript Required) Experience: Six (6) years of progressive financial aid experience preferably at the Associate Director level or higher; or Master's Degree and four (4) years of progressive financial aid experience preferably at the Associate Director level or higher. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to supervise and train professional level staff in addition to how financial aid can be strategically leveraged to improve retention. Working knowledge of the principles and functions of financial aid packaging, record keeping, planning, Title IV program integrity requirements, FSA and TSAC regulations, federal work study programs, and financial literacy/debt management programming. Ability to accurately interpret and apply federal and state regulations. Extensive computer and/or technical skills and experience with a student information systems, preferably the Banner Information System. Skilled in using Microsoft Office products.
