The Compensation Manager will design, implement and manage all compensation programs and processes for a growing, and impactful non-profit organization based in Durham, NC.The Compensation Manager will lead the design, implementation and management of the Self-Help's compensation program ensuring it remains in line with the organizational principles, values, and structure. This individual will continually monitor and evaluate competitive practices, assess the organization's position to market, and make recommendations to ensure that compensation and salary plans support Self-Help's mission and values. Incentive planning and administration are not included in the responsibilities of this position. The Compensation Manager will play a critical role in the development and implementation of the HRIS Compensation in 2020. Crucial to this role will be the ability to identify opportunities to streamline administrative activities within the team including the ability to develop and implement workflow processes enabling a more efficient compensation process. Essential Responsibilities: Maintain and update salary administration guidelines, policies, spreadsheets and other compensation tools. Contribute to policies, practices and guidelines, specifically those related to performance management and compensation. Manage the day-to-day tactical/operational compensation issues and questions. Advise staff and management on pay decisions, policies and guidelines. Review all proposed salary actions to ensure conformance with established policies, guidelines and equity. Actively participate in Merger and Acquisition activity, including the compensation integration of newly acquired staff. Identify appropriate market data sources (surveys, databases, etc.) Compile and analyze data. Design and maintain pay structures. Maintain institution benchmark data and conducts pricing of new jobs and offers. Compile annual merit budget recommendation and facilitates the annual salary review/merit increase program, including the communication, review and approval from Senior Management. Manage the process design, communication and training, tools, compliance reviews and overseeing HRIS and payroll compensation updates. Hire, develop and supervise staff. Provide timely and direct feedback regarding performance. Monitor new trends and employment laws related to compensation. Ensure organizational compliance as needed. Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary. Credentials, Experience and Skills: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent related experience, and a minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in compensation and HR data management. CCP and/or PHR/SPHR certification(s) preferred. Prior management/supervisory experience. Strong commitment to our mission - creating economic opportunity for traditionally underserved communities. Preference for working in organizations that place priority on teamwork and collaboration Strong business acumen as well as broad understanding of HR processes. Advanced knowledge of compensation practices and deep knowledge of FLSA and other relevant federal and state regulations. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize work. Ability to juggle multiple projects and work independently to meet goals, objectives, and deadlines. Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to build working relationships across all levels of the organization. Ability to use PowerPoint to deliver presentations. Advanced Excel skills and an aptitude for statistics, modeling, spreadsheets, graphing, report writing and navigating relational databases. Experience working with HRIS systems, UltiPro preferred. Ability to effectively hire develop and motivate staff. Physical Requirements: Frequently requires use of manual dexterity and repetitive motions, primarily with the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
