Family Advocate (Social Work Assistant 2)Head Start, ECEAP, & Early Head Start This is a ten-month cyclical position that is not scheduled to work in the summer. We are seeking applicants for the position of Family Advocate. Edmonds Community College Head Start, ECEAP, and Early Head Start is a dynamic, outward thinking organization committed to inspiring learning and contributing to the health and well being of families with young children. This position also requires a strong understanding of case management, effective time management skills, flexibility, and an ability to work autonomously and as part of a strong team in a high quality preschool and family services environment If you are committed to making a positive impact in our community and building partnerships with your clients, co-workers, and community stakeholders, we encourage you to apply.Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Social Work/Case Management: assist Teacher/Family Advocates in identifying resources to work with lower-risk families; work directly with a caseload of higher-needs families; developi individualized family partnerships; help parents set goals; conduct one-on-one home visits as needed and as required by the program; all other duties as assigned. Ongoing Monitoring and Data Management: work with families to ensure all required paperwork is completed and on time; perform daily data entry into our case management database; monitor data regularly to ensure compliance with program standards. Collaborate With Other Program Areas and Community Partners: work with Teacher/Family Advocates, Mental Health Specialist, Education Site Managers, and other program area staff to ensure high quality delivery of services to families on caseload; develop collaborative relationships with community partners; represent Head Start/ECEAP at community events as needed. This is a classified position reporting to the Family Services Manager. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS One of the following is required: An associate degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits of social work, human services, family services, counseling or another field directly related to their job responsibilities, AND four years of task-oriented social work experience, OR A bachelor degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits of social work, human services, family services, counseling or another field directly related to their job responsibilities, AND two years of task-oriented social work experience DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Work experience with the following: Working with low-income families with young children Working with families who are dual language learners Fluent in Spanish Maintaining a complex written and electronic documentation and record-keeping system Working with office productivity suites such as Microsoft Office, Google, etc. Working with technology databases such as ChildPlus or PeopleSoft. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to report to work at scheduled times; position may require some evening scheduling. Work is performed in an office setting and also in clients' homes. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station and perform detailed tasks involving repetitive arm and hand movements, such as data entry, is essential. Operation of standard office equipment such as a PC/terminal, electronic calculator, copy machine, and multi-line phone system is required. The ability to move over uneven surfaces and exhibit sensitivity while in clients' homes is essential. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings, Mid-August through mid-June. COMPENSATION Salary range 45: Beginning salary is $3432 - $3871 per month for 40 hours per week, with incremental increases to $4492 per month plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 10 sick days per year, 9 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, 2 personal leave days, and 11 vacation days per year (incremental increases to 20 vacation days per year). CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Hiring for this position is on the condition that candidates meet the following requirements: Before Starting Work : Submit paperwork indicating negative TB Test or clear chest x-ray within one year of hire date Show proof of Tdap booster vaccination Show proof of MMR (measles) vaccination Submit proof of a cleared Portable Background Check from the Washington State Department of Early Learning Within three days of hire : Submit proof of US Citizenship or ability to work in US (must show original social security or Alien Registration Card/Work Permit, as well as one piece of picture identification) Completion of all pertinent personnel/payroll forms Within 30 days of hire : Submit official education transcript(s) showing employee meets the educational requirements of the position Within 60 days of hire : Signed statement by a health provider that the employee is free from communicable diseases and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
