Job Purpose: Full-time, Tenure-track Assistant Professor, WWAMI, College of Health Sciences, University of Wyoming, beginning August 2020 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Scholarship - Develop a research program that aligns with the goals of The University of Wyoming's WWAMI program and The Sensory Biology Center, which is to foster and conduct high-quality scientific research that advances the understanding of sensory systems and related disorders. Ideal applicants would be working in areas that include, but are not limited to mechanisms of pain, substance abuse, spinal cord injury, and obesity.Teaching - Provide quality instruction in areas of neurology and psychiatry and help co-coordinate our Mind, Brain, and Behavior course in WWAMI.Service - Participate in WWAMI program development; advise/mentor students; provide service to the WWAMI program, college, university, state, and profession. Supplemental Functions: Opportunities exist for a joint position at The University of Wyoming and Ivinson Memorial Hospital to serve as both a faculty member associated with The University of Washington WWAMI program and a clinician at a top-rated rural community hospital, respectively. WWAMI is a cooperative medical program through the University of Washington with 20 new medical students entering the program each year in Wyoming, where they complete their first 1.5 years of studies. The successful candidate will teach within an integrative curriculum and serve as physician mentors to Wyoming's WWAMI students, which nearly 70% of graduates return to practice in Wyoming. Minimum Qualifications: Earned MD, PhD or MD/PhD Evidence of research activity that aligns with the goals and mission of The University of Wyoming's WWAMI Program and the Sensory Biology Center, which is to foster and conduct high-quality scientific research that advances the understanding of sensory systems and related disorders. Ideal applicants would have potential for obtaining external funding (i.e., peer-reviewed publications, grant funding, etc.) in areas that include, but are not limited to mechanisms of pain, substance abuse, spinal cord injury, psychiatry, precision medicine, or neuropathology.
