Description:
An integral part of the Albright-Knox's Publications Department, the Designer designs and produces a wide variety of materials in support of the museum's brand and activities.Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrint Design and produce print materials that support the museum's day-to-day activities, including invitations, brochures, members' calendars, rack cards, newsletters, advertisements, signs, and posters Participate in meetings with colleagues across the museum to discuss scope, concept, design, budget, and schedule of projects Prepare and present preliminary designs, comprehensives, and complete layouts for review and approval by colleagues Revise projects as needed through subsequent rounds of review In collaboration with the Head of Publications, identify vendors to provide printing and other services, assign projects to vendors, and manage project schedules Provide quality control of all projects by overseeing approvals of printer's proofs and attending press checks, as required Digital Design digital advertisements, invitations, and newsletters Provide art direction for online shop photography Identify and crop images for the AK's website Create graphics for the website, social media, and emails Maintain and update email templates and produce emails Help with visual QA for the website and emails Establish templates for videos and video series, including title screens, text overlays, and credit screens Exhibitions In collaboration with curators and editors, develop and design exhibition graphics, including overall exhibition identities, title walls, and wall texts Work with colleagues and vendors on preparation and installation of exhibition graphics Design and produce gallery guides, family guides, and booklets Requirements Bachelor's degree or equivalent in graphic design or a related field Five or more years work experience, preferably in a museum setting Solid understanding of design and production and mastery of associated tools, including Adobe Creative Suite for Mac Excellent skills in pre-press, file preparation, and specification for diverse forms of production In-depth knowledge of offset and digital printing and print production Understanding of relevant design standards regarding accessibility for all audiences Ability to advise on color correction of photographs for print and web Good communication skills and desire to function as part of a close-knit team Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines recblid 7i4pf3u7ph2p4d0nvhsdppox0dmebx BA/BS/Undergraduate
