Job Objective: Administer all phases of the school's operation and curricular offerings, and supervise staff and students. Carry out policies and directives of the School Board and District administration. Essential Job Functions: * Develop a school learning climate which supports the instructional efforts of the teaching staff through the District's School Improvement process* Administer the personnel program of the building, including administrative, teaching, clerical, custodial, food service, and other support personnel * Organize the staff to maximize instructional and co-curricular opportunities* Assume responsibility for faculty, team leaders, and department chair meetings* Provide leadership in the use of teaming for instruction* Administer student activity funds with proper accounting procedures* Implement Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to school* Organize articulation with the high schools and elementary schools* Initiate, design, implement, and evaluate student activities and athletics consistent with the educational goals of the middle school philosophy* Plan and supervise safety emergency procedures for the school to ensure the well being of students and faculty* Review job applications, interview applicants, and make recommendations for hiring staff* Effective communication of the school programs to students, staff, District personnel, and the community* Prepare and administer the unit budget and the general office funds* Responsible for educational specialists while they are in the building* Maintain school and students records in accordance with the Statutes of the State of Wisconsin and the policies of the Board of Education* Monitor national, state, and local student achievement results, as well as other school/ student performance data* Evaluate professional and non-professional staff* Oversee the SAT and IEP Teams* In compliance with Section 118.16(2M) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the School Board designates that in the middle school, the principal shall act as truant officer unless he/she has designated his/her assistant to act in that capacity 48 hours prior to the first day of students attending classes* Promote the professional development of the assistant principals and encourage their potential through professional growth* Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned or requested Position Requirements: * Extensive knowledge of teaching methodologies and ability to provide assistance and instructional leadership to teachers requiring instructional assistance* Knowledge of/skill in the application of all statutes, rules, regulations, case law, and School Board policies affecting student records, enrollment, discipline, employee records, hiring practices, working conditions, and contractual obligations* Knowledge of and skill in the application of computer use appropriate for maintaining student records, employee records, and correspondence* Demonstrated leadership and ability to work effectively with groups and individuals in a professional, amiable and courteous manner* Demonstrated skills in organization, communications, and problem-solving* Ability to complete all essential functions and goals as determined by the District* Ability to hold all information confidential* Strong organizational skills and ability to determine priorities* Ability to work with constant interruptions* Flexibility to deal with daily problems and requests* Documented training and demonstrated skill in evaluation and assessment of teacher performance and knowledge of clinical supervision* Demonstrated skill in human relations, communication, leadership, and organizational theory* Demonstrated skill in promoting multi-cultural awareness and commitment Education: Required: Master's Degree in School Administration from accredited college or university Work Experience: Required: 3-5 years teaching/administrative experience Desired: Experience working with middle school aged children Demonstrated successful experience in public school administration Demonstrated knowledge of middle school philosophy & practice Licensing: Required: Wisconsin Elementary 1-8 Administration or 7-12 Administration Certificate Valid Wisconsin Driver's License Effective: July 1, 2020 recblid xswht7os7gpd3x2fb2cyx10bvxzj7d Master's Degree
