Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is seeking a Senior Associate Director of Research Affairs to join its team. The Senior Associate Director, working under the Associate Dean for Research, will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of research development in the School, interfacing with the USC Office of Research, USC Office of Biosafety, USC Contracts and Grants, USC Stevens Center for Innovation, and various centers/institutes of research within USC.The Senior Associate Director will work closely with the USC Mann Development and the Communications offices to identify any crossover in efforts, so that multiple approaches from within the USC Mann School can be coordinated.Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:performance of data analytics and preparation of evaluative materials regarding research performance for internal and external reports.supervision and oversight of School’s research core facilities: personnel, account management, service-related issues with users; and pre-award office personnel and activitiesdevelopment of written and oral presentations for diverse audiences on aspects of the School’s research programs; contribution to an informative web presence for the officedevelopment, organization and implementation of research-related workshops, symposium, and retreat; and intramural research funding opportunitiesdevelop grant proposals in collaboration with core facilities lead for funding to support research infrastructure;identification and proactive development of new research opportunities for faculty and students, in federal and foundation grants and in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries;facilitate communication with School-level facilities and business continuity team and USC Office of Biosafety to ensure compliance of core facilities and individual faculty labs.expansion of School-affiliated industry outreach; to expand industry users of our core facilitiesA key metric of success in the position will be the expansion of core facilities outreach to other units within the university research community, industry, and funding to support research infrastructure. Strong lay science skills including graduate level coursework and scientific training are essential. Successful experience in business development is desirable.Preferred Education: PhDThe annual base salary range for this position is $137,000 - $155,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Additional Education Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 5 years Addtional Experience Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum work experience Minimum Skills: Related experience with specialized research and/or programs (e.g., counseling, teaching). Ability to analyze and evaluate data, and present findings. Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, able to problem solve and lead conflict resolutions. Ability to interpret and apply policies/analyses/trends. Preferred Education: Master's degree Preferred Experience: 7 years related experience with specialized research and/or programs Preferred Skills: Related special education, licensing, or certifications based upon program content and services.
