A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SWIM INSTRUCTOR As an Instructor, you are responsible for ensuring that patrons receive the best possible lessons about swimming safety. You supervise the conduct of patrons and strictly enforce all rules, regulations, policies, and ordinances that govern our facility. When accidents occur in or out of the water, you are quick to respond in order to provide CPR, first aid, and other assistance that is necessary. In addition, anytime you notice unsafe conditions, you make sure to report it to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner. You also attend all staff meetings and in-service training sessions. When other instructors or staff members need help, you are happy to assist them with any tasks that are required. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SWIM INSTRUCTOR At least 15 years of age Successful completion of all required certification before start date (classes are held at the fitness center) CPR/AED and first aid certifications Ability to pass a water test Ability to work early mornings, mid-days, evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to meet the physical activity requirements, including pushing and pulling items as well as lifting medium weights Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you highly alert and attentive to detail? Do you work well both independently and as part of a team? Can you work well in stressful situations? Do you consider yourself an exceptional problem solver? If yes, you might just be perfect for this part-time position in our aquatics department!
