Position Title: Design Engineer Location: St. Charles, MO Position Summary: The Design Engineer is responsible for all creative and detail design for assigned projects; ranging from 2-20 weeks in duration and $5,000 to $1,000,000 of sales revenue. Primary Responsibilities: Under moderate supervision, take projects that vary in size from small to large from conceptual idea to fabrication drawing. Interface with Sales, Estimating and the Customer to understand the project scope and specific design expectations. Communicate with shop personnel daily to address design concerns and project/work schedule. Source and quote products for the project in coordination with Purchasing to provide materials per the project schedule. Prepare fabrication drawings for outside sourcing and communication with vendors. Monitor weights before, during and after production as well as promptly relaying any concerns to Sales and Production Management. Review designs for safety and liability considerations, communicating concerns to Sales and Production Management. Required Skills: BS in Engineering and 0-2 years' experience. Strong computer skills and experience in 3D solid modeling with basic AutoCAD or similar program. Must understand basic concepts and procedures in an Engineering discipline. Gather and analyze data to make technical recommendations. Manage time wisely and self-prioritize to meet tight deadlines. Willing to learn and work on projects that may include steel structures, aluminum structures, hydraulics, visual elements, electrical and controls, mobile structures, etc. Preferred Skills: Skilled in electric/electric control systems, hydraulics, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), PLC Programming, cabinet building, plumbing, HVAC and/or lighting. Solidworks experience. Physical Skills: Sit for long periods of time. Required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with arms.
