JOB SUMMARY: The psychiatrist will assist residents by evaluating medical and psychosocial conditions; assistance in the development and implementation of treatment plans, including prescription of psychotropic medications; monitoring and evaluating treatment results. The psychiatrist may order and review lab testing. The psychiatrist is also available for consultation regarding resident's psychiatric needs or in the case of psychiatric (and possibly medical) emergencies. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Perform psychiatric assessments and follow-up appointments Able to diagnose illness and prescribe appropriate medications. Facilitate History and Physical examination. Engagement in multidisciplinary staff meetings and treatment plan meetings. Meet and work collaboratively with the leadership, medical and nursing team. Perform lectures to residents and/or staff as requested by CMO or Clinical Director. Participation in on-call schedule. Assists in facilitating a structured and therapeutic environment. Respects the privacy and protects patient confidentiality while maintaining professional boundaries. Must be readily available to nursing and other staff for order requests and clarifications. Observing and monitoring residents' physical and emotional needs, providing interventions when appropriate. Openly collaborates with outside providers and professional referents to facilitate continuity of care. This includes weekly updates and/or other requests by said professionals, per Sabino Recovery's Policy and Procedures. Conduct peer review/appeal calls with insurance providers. Provides excellent resident and customer service and care. Knowledge of EMR systems for documentation. Timely documentation in electronic medical records. Must ensure completion of all yearly mandatory training provided by Sabino Recovery. Other functions as requested by Executive Management Team. JOB SKILLS AND ABILITY Able to problem solve, engage in creative thinking, able to respond quickly to crisis situations, and interpret medical abbreviations in writing and orally. Able to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to utilize basic math skills and mathematical concepts. Able to read, write and speak English fluently. Some Spanish preferred. Must have excellent written/oral communication skills. Must possess strong ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality. Possesses good attention to detail. Able to deal effectively with distractions. Is reliable in achieving results within expected time periods. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Doctorate of Medicine or Osteopathy. Board Certified / Eligible in Psychiatry. Preferred Certification by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) or Certificate of Added Qualification in Addiction Psychiatry. Experience in drug and alcohol detoxification preferred. Buprenorphine waiver preferred. Experience in residential or inpatient treatment preferred. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION: Current/unrestricted Arizona medical license
