Position Summary: The Retina Services Supervisor assists in the care of patients by performing portions of the patient exam and assisting physicians as needed to provide comprehensive eye care to the patient. The Retina Services Supervisor is responsible for organizing, planning, leading, and directing the Retina staff. Accountable for daily operations and oversight of the Retina department and patient care delivery. Contributes to the organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication/collaboration. Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem solving, patient advocacy and public relations. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring that employees are empathetic to the needs of patients and family, yet efficient in meeting administrative needs for the Eye Clinic of Wisconsin Provide technical staff training for all new hires within the Retina Department Manage Scribe Lead and Technician Lead. Maintain the Retina Training Outline and Manual Finalize daily and Weekly Retina staffing schedules. Direct point of contact for retina providers Address non personnel and personnel related questions and concerns on the medical floor. Complete detailed exams: perform testing required based on physician direction. Coordinate supplies and inventory for retina department. Promote a positive working environment, providing encouragement and guidance to other staff members. Complete team evaluations, hiring and feedback reports. Other duties as assigned. Act in the capacity of a resource and guidance person as it relates to the medical area, and serves as a liaison between the medical area, management, and Board of Directors Manage timeclock processes and PTO requests. Continuously improve quality by routinely participating in quality improvement initiatives and through the peer review process Lead and delegate responsibilities to the department through consistent communication and follow-up Develop departmental goals and help to achieve financial and primary goals of the Clinic. Ensure and promote the confidentiality of patient records and compliance with privacy and security rules. Ensure assigned tasks of Technicians/Assistants are completed in accordance with prescribed standards. Coordinate staffing of all satellite offices in the Retina area Coordinate CE credits based on staff needs. Coordinate policies and procedures of the Retina Department. Also maintain good communication within the departments to ensure all policies and procedures are working well. Work Relationship and Scope: The Retina Services Supervisor works closely with physicians, patients, and other medical floor staff. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in health care or a related field is preferred; 3-4 years of experience of comparable job-related experience may be substituted in lieu of education. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an Ophthalmic Clinic, Retina preferred. Effective communication both orally and in written format is required. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required. Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail Ability to work well under pressure. Work Conditions: Eye Clinic of Wisconsin has eight locations; while staff will be assigned to a "home" location, travel to satellites is a requirement of the position. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
