Above all, New American Cities will provide refugees with the hope that they came looking for when they first entered the US. Our Solution includes 1. Individualized career navigation services for refugees, 2. Connections to pathway builders, who forge relationships between refugees and employers, expose training opportunities, and aim to address systemic barriers to advancement; and 3. Coalitions and champions to challenge negative narratives about refugees and create opportunities for social connections at the workplace and in neighborhoods. Reporting to the Program Officer for Economic Empowerment, The New American City (NAC) Intern will work closely with the NAC team to support reaching NAC's annual goals of client enrollment and job placement numbers. The primary role of the intern will be to draft national resource guides, research and keep a record of national employers and training institutions interested in partnering with LIRS NAC and finally to create and develop the NAC program SOP (Standard Operating Procedure). DUTIES Support NAC staff by researching national employers and training institutions for program outreach Draft emails to send out to potential employers and training institutions and schedule meetings Support NAC staff in developing NAC's Career Advising mentorship program (drafting template emails, follow up with clients and mentors) Update the case management system regularly Attend monthly meetings with the national NAC team and note taking in internal and external meetings Coordinate meetings with sites for annual trainings and create resources for each training Create materials to support the expansion of the New American Cities program nationally. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Interest in gaining a better understanding of the US refugee resettlement process and different employment programs for refugees and immigrants Eager to learn how to navigate a client case management system Ability to and interest in researching a variety of career opportunities and training programs Ability to communicate via phone and email with program mentors and LIRS staff Desire to support the goals and mission and needs for the New American City program Ability to work well on a team in a diverse workplace.
