Financial Analyst

Description:
Role Purpose: Conducts margin analysis, identifies process improvement opportunities, and eliminates redundant parts or products (SKU reduction) and material applications options. Develop cost estimates and provide cost/financial analyses for Off-Highway Powertrain products. Analyze product design and manufacturing processes to effect maximum utilization of materials, methods and process in order to meet cost objectives and quality specifications. Examine parts and components to ascertain purpose, cost and value by utilizing knowledge of product design and budgetary considerations. Guide Accounting, Sales and Technical Departments into optimizing the content/features of products given the constraints of selling price and margins. Performs economic/financial research and analyses as assigned for use in the development of business strategies and tactics and in subsequent appraisal of results. Performs journal entry preparation/entry and balance sheet reconciliations as required for month-end closing. Key Responsibilities: Identifies financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts. Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions. Improves financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management. Provides daily sales and ordering reporting to management. Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data. Maintains database by entering, verifying, and backing up data. Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses; studying proposed changes in methods and materials. Increases productivity by developing automated accounting applications; coordinating information requirements. Backup for shared services production payroll. Completion of numerous journal entries as required for month end. Completion of sales tax return. Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Responsible for intercompany balancing All other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 4 year degree in Accounting or equivalent education and work experience Prior knowledge in manufacturing Ability to work with a variety of diverse people and departments Detailed oriented, organized and proficient with LN and SAP (or other similar ERP), Microsoft Word, Excel and Access skills Requirements include outstanding research, analytical and spreadsheet skills, and exceptional verbal and written communications skills Additional Information: Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
