Behavioral Heath Technician (Tech)

Job Duties Include, but are not limited to: 1. Monitors client activities and enforces program rules - Notifies supervisor and/or nursing staff if, after warning a client continues inappropriate behaviors. 2. Leads psycho-educational groups - Lead groups focused on recovery topics and life skills and effectively manage group dynamics. 3. Documentation in the client record - Document assessments and client behaviors in the General Note appropriately and in a timely manner. 4. AMA and Crisis intervention - Identify AMA risks and crisis situations and notify supervisor, clinical, and or nursing staff. Provide AMA and crisis interventions to clients as needed and communicate outcomes to supervisor and clinical staff as well as document in the client record. Monitor clients on behavioral precautions. (Suicide, AMA, etc.) 5. De-escalate disruptive clients - Redirect disruptive clients in a respectful manner and de-escalate clients in crisis. 6. Always maintain knowledge of the location of all clients - Perform roll call and take attendance at all meetings. Monitoring the movement of clients as they transition throughout the facility. Supervise clients in the gym, cafeteria, lounge area, medication line, auditorium, during scheduled transitions, and in the smoking areas. 7. Performs bed checks/sweeps - Overnight shifts must complete bed checks every half hour and document their rounds on the Overnight Technician Bed Check Log. First and Second shift ensures and encourages clients to get out of bed and attend all necessary groups, counseling sessions, meetings, activities and medical appointments. 8. Intake and Admissions - May assist in the pre-admission intake and the admission of clients to include completing admission paperwork, luggage search and inventory of client belongings, body search, conducting drug screens, heat- treating client clothing, taking a client to their room, facility tour and orientation to the program. 9. Building security - Ensure that all required doors and windows are locked and secured during shift. Monitoring security cameras, and monitoring and responding to security and safety alarms. Notify the supervisor of any potential security issues. 10. Family program and visitation - Responsible for check-in of visitors, monitoring, and security during family program and visitation. 11. Searches - According to facility policies, conduct room and physical plant searches for contraband, weapons, drugs, etc. Conduct body searches as needed for suspected contraband. 12. Fire Drills - Assists in fire drills, taking clients to the evacuations site, take attendance, and perform room and building checks. 13. Transportation - utilizing a company vehicle, transport clients to meeting and off grounds appointments. Accompany clients to their appointments and ensure their safe return to the facility. 14. Shift report - Complete shift report accurately, passing information from one shift to the next communicating effectively and thoroughly with the staff coming on the next shift. 15. Incident Reporting - According to policy complete incident reporting in a timely manner and communicate all incidents with the supervisor, nursing, and Project Director. 16. Discharges - Duties may include overseeing the transfer of the client's luggage, confiscated items, money, and medication. Manage the arrival of families for pickup and assist in transferring client's belonging to their exit vehicle to minimize the unsupervised transfer of contraband. Documentation of AMA and Administrative discharge paperwork.
