Position Summary Current openings are for male RA's only. (all Female RA positions have been filled) This job is perfect for college age students or very recent grads, who are good with working with older teens and are excited to live and work Philadelphia. BOLD Summers is still hiring motivated individuals to be Residential Advisors (RAs), also referred to as Camp Counselors , who will live in the dorms and work at our summer program on UPenn's campus. Make your way to the campus, and your room and meals are included. Join our mission-driven team for five weeks of fun, hard work, trips and travel, making friends for life and helping high school students from all over the world have their best summer! Our staff members are expected to make a positive impact on the students in their care and our comprehensive training and orientation will equip you to do just that! Besides meeting new friends and having fun together, our Residential Advisors (Counselors): Live on the same floor as the students in the program, providing supervision and guidance to them Supervise and act in loco parentis for campers/students [ages 15-18] during the program Actively participate in all camp activities and trips Provide a fun and safe environment for the students Serve as a positive and encouraging role model for the students and peers Assist the Academic Program Directors and the Residential Director in the successful implementation of the program, both academically and residentially. Position Scope Staff will arrive on Tuesday, June 20, by 12:00PM EST for check in at the University of Pennsylvania. The BOLD Summers team delivers orientation, training, and equipping. Student arrival is Sunday, June 25 and student departure is Saturday, July 21 or 22 (4 weeks). Staff depart on July 22. Staff will have a full day off in week 1, week 2, and week 3 of the program. Staff will have two half days off in week 4, with other allocated time slots of time off during each day. Staff are required to stay for the duration of the program, including July 4th, and will depart on the morning of July 22. Essential Job Responsibilities Prepare the campus for the student arrival. Create, plan and deliver evening and weekend activity programming. Attend and chaperone certain academic activities or field trips as needed. Work effectively with co-counselors and collaborate on daily responsibilities Exhibit BOLD Summers Core Values at all times and adhere to all company policies Maintain the BOLD Summers camp uniform look at all times when on duty. Demonstrate the BOLD Summers Virtues of Character (Gratitude, Respect, Trustworthiness, Effort, Kindness, Positivity, Resilience, Community) for the duration of the program. Other responsibilities as assigned for the smooth running of the program. Have fun! Requirements Minimum age is nineteen (19) years old Must be either in college, just graduated or recently working Must have prior experience working with teens, examples include but are not limited to: teaching, coaching, tutoring, camp counselor, youth volunteer Be able to chaperone a group of 10 students for a minimum of 8 city blocks Respond swiftly and responsibly to emergency situations Have outstanding communication skills Complete all trainings and pre-employment credentials required by BOLD Summers and the state of Pennsylvania. Push/pull, lift and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds across campus Covid-19 Health & Safety Protocols All staff members are expected to be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to work at this particular summer program. BOLD Summers will also be implementing a safety plan to ensure our students, team members, and any others interacting with our program will thrive in a safe environment. Team members will be trained on all protocols and full compliance is expected if required by the University. This plan includes detailed safety measures including: Pre-arrival testing Scheduled cleaning and disinfecting of shared spaces Reasonable contact reduction, including social distancing practices if necessary at the time of the program. Symptom Management Masking in Penn Med buildings if required at that time Reporting Relationships Residential Advisors report directly to the Camp Site Director and will also take direction from the full-time senior leadership team.
